Oil Painting for Beginners

Service Description

This is a beginner level course that will guide students through the basic fundamentals of oil painting. Students will learn to paint starting with a limited color pallet which we will then expand into a wider color pallet. Students will learn about under paintings, color mixing and color theory, brush techniques and paint application. We will apply all learned techniques to a variety of subject matter such as still life scenes, geometric compositions, landscape scenery and more. All students are required to supply their own materials for this course. Please view the supply list below and refer to photo gallery for supply samples. -Linseed Oil 4 oz or more -Odorless Terpenoid 16 oz or more ( must be ODORLESS!) -Brush cleaning tank (or a glass or metal container with lid) -Two small glass or metal containers -Variety pack of paint brushes - 8X10 Canvas boards or canvas pads (10 or more canvases recommended) - Cleaning rags - Paint pallet (glass, metal, wood, or disposable) Oil Colors, at least 40 ML per tube ( Make sure you are buying oil paints and not acrylics!) - Titanium White -Ivory Black or Paynes Grey -Raw Umber -Burnt Sienna -Alizarin Crimson -Ultramarine Blue -Cadmium Yellow Suggested but not required colors -Sap Green - Cerulean Blue -Raw Seinna -Yellow Ochre Blick Art Materials located at 1025 E 2100 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84106 is a great one stop shop for all of the materials on the list. All workshops are subject to cancellation if the class does not have enough participants.
